Hall of Fame induction: 2000
Bob Taggart has set a whole new standard of achievement of running excellence in the local community. He is a great role model for both younger runners and his peers. As author of this article, I consider it a honor to compose this write up for him. He has run many races over the years and his name will often appear in the papers because he frequently places and/or wins his age category. Bob has run numerous races in all distances. One of his most prestigious accomplishments is his participation in the Boston Marathon.
In my mind he is an elite runner. For those of you that have never had the opportunity to know Bob, he is a gentleman and is very humble about his achievements. You will never hear him boast about his accomplishments.
Bob is a professor at the University of Delaware. He presently serves on the Executive Board of the Pike Creek Running Club. For all of his contributions to the running community, he is richly deserving of recognition into the Pike Creek Valley Running Club Hall of Fame. Bob, congratulations on your induction in to the Hall of Fame and for affording me the opportunity to recognize your achievements.
