XC Club National Championship – 12/14/19

Tom Steenkamer’s race recap of Pike Creek Valley Running Club’s participation:
Hello PCVRC USATF team members,
Congratulations to everyone for competing in the USATF Cross County Club National Championships this past Saturday. An historic day with the largest participation on record for this event coupled with classic cross country conditions made a memorable day for everyone.

Special thanks to my 2 co-chair persons for this event – Lynn Knothe and Rich Syzmanski without whom this day would not have been successful.

We sent 56 club members to the line across the 5 races which eclipsed the club’s 2014 Club Nationals participation.

There were several high performing achievements competing against some of the top runners from across the country –

PCVRC Women 60 Team A 3rd place
PCVRC Women 40 Team A 6th place
PCVRC Men 60 Team A 8th place
Laura Latchford – 9th overall women’s 40 race, 1st place 50-54 AG
Mike Digennaro – 13th overall men’s 40 race

I am sure that there are many personal success stories out there so please feel free to share them on our club facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/groups/pcvrc/ , along with any pictures from the day.

Looking ahead we’ve increased our membership with over 20 new USATF club members and need to see you with us in 2020.

The club participates annually in the MidAtlantic USATF regional road, trail and XC events and it would great if you can participate with the team.

The road races are conducted in the greater Philly area over a variety of distances from 5k to the full marathon including the Broad St Run, Delaware Distance Classic and Philadelphia marathon as well as many other great events at the shorter distances.

The 2019 schedule, http://mausatf.com/grandprix-events/ , is a good reference for the major events and 2020 will add 1 or 2 new events.
