About The Video – from the Producer
I have been an avid club runner with Pike Creek Valley Running Club for many years. Like some other runners, I tend to recite song lyrics in my head on long training runs. Some time in the past the title to the Beatles song Paperback Writer morphed in my head to Marathon Runner, as both titles have the same number of syllables. On subsequent runs I gradually changed all of the lyrics from Paperback Writer to the following:
Marathon Runner
(to tune of Paperback Writer)
Marathon runner
Marathon runner
Marathon runner
Dear Coach Fisher will you watch me run?
It’s taken months to train and I know I’m not done
At the end of each day there is always beer
But I need a coach cuz I want to be a marathon runner
Marathon runner
It’s a sweaty story about a sweaty man
And his normal wife doesn’t understand
In the past he had been walking for his exercise
That was a sensible plan but he wants to be a marathon runner
Marathon runner
I’ve gone ten thousand yards give or take a few
I’ll be running more in a week or two
I can make it longer if you want more miles
I can push it hard and I want to be a marathon runner
Marathon runner
If you need me to I can run all night
Around the track until I get it right
If you can help me, you can find me here
But I need a coach and I want to be a marathon runner
Marathon runner
Marathon runner, Marathon runner
Marathon runner, Marathon runner
Marathon runner, Marathon runner…
