Nun Run Volunteers Needed
Ray Christensen needs volunteers for the race itself. He needs course marshals (8:30-10 am), Please e-mail if you can help.
Claire Neilan is looking for volunteers to man the PCVRC table at the Nun Run. You would need to be there at 7:30 when registration opens to set up the table and talk about the club. Claire will provide you with brochures, leaflets, registration forms and a mannequin. (I guess the mannequin is so you’ll have someone to talk to during the race.

Apologies for the delay. I re-injured my foot on Monday and have been dealing with that. Last week I got to accomplish a bucket-list item, walking on the Brooklyn Bridge.
Rachel has an item about a PCVRC fundraising event at Iron Hill Brewery in Newark on September 29th.
Paula Jermyn has the next event in the PCVRC Speaker Series, to be held on October 19th. It’s a great opportunity to stretch and unwind from the DDC the week prior!
Robert Taggart would like to pass around a reminder to be careful out in the sun and use sunscreen even when you think it’s not needed. He has gone through 3 basal skin cancer surgeries in the last two months and would hate to see anyone else have to go through what he has.

Race Results, Reviews and accomplishments:
Pike Creek continues to field competitive athletes. Let’s see how we did!
Don Ropp, Susan Snavely, Tony Chelpaty, Barbara Chelpaty, Kim Sinko-Borges, Sheri Sweigart and Dirk Sweigart competed in the Lehigh Valley Health Network Via Marathon and Half-Marathon on Sunday. Dirk got a PR and came in 4th Overall Master’s in the half. Sheri won her age group in the half!
Theresa Cannon-Kauffman competed in the Nation’s Triathlon, an Olympic-distance triathlon in Washington, D.C. It was her first race at this distance in over 20 years. The swim portion was cancelled but Theresa placed 7th in her age group, finishing in 2:10:03. Well done!
John Schultz competed in the Labor Pain 12-Hour Endurance Trail Race (just the name makes me wince) on August 31st. He completed 35 miles in 11:16:12, 13 minutes faster than last year! John describes the race as completing as many 5-mile loops in 12 hours. John completed seven loops in “a steam bath, with two heavy showers”. Rank is determined by number of loops and then finishing times. In this case John’s 35 miles/11:16:12 beat out someone else’s 30 miles/9:15:06! John placed 86th out of 214 finishers. Awesome job John!
Carole Feole, at the April Fools Half Marathon on April 6th, won the 50-59 age group and set the Delaware women’s 55-59 state record!!!!!
Kelly Jones, Matt Cutrona, Zach Chupa and Lisa & Fred Jalot competed in the Bottle & Cork Ten-Miler and 5k races. Matt won the Overall Master’s in the Ten-Miler. Kelly Jones won her age group in the 5k and Lisa Jalot won Overall Female in the 5k. Fred Jalot came in 2nd in his age group in the 5k. Zach Chupa was the Overall Male winner. Way to go ladies and gentlemen!
Lynn Knothe and Greg Cauller both competed in the 15th Amos Herr 5k Honey Run on August 24th. Lynn was the Overall Female winner and Greg won his age group!
John Schultz competed in the Diamondman Challenge Sprint Duathlon on September 7th. He ran 2 miles, biked 19.5 and then ran 3.3 more, all in a time of 2:53:00, winning his age group! Most impressive John! (I keep saying I need to start registering as an 80-year-old so I can win awards. The happy truth is that John would still beat me handily!)
