Yoga for Runners Workshop

Running and yoga go together like peanut butter and jelly. If you are tight, sore, stressed, or just looking to clear your mind for a more focused training season, yoga may be the right thing for you.
What the heck is yoga anyway? Do we have to wear trendy clothes and bend ourselves into pretzels? Absolutely not. Yoga, like running, can be simple and effective with minimal equipment.
Yoga is an ancient practice that began in India. Physically, it can help you become stronger, and more flexible. Mentally, it can improve concentration and relieve stress. The breath in yoga is what links the mental and physical together. This “mind/ body connection” can help an athlete to feel more present and healthy in their sport.
If you think you’re too tight for yoga, think again. This workshop is tailored specifically for runners. It begins with a short introduction, breath work, and a series of beginner-friendly postures to strengthen and stretch the muscles. We will focus specifically on:
-Injury prevention
-Safe Alignment
-Core stability
-Stress relief for muscles and mind
It ends in a guided relaxation to leave you feeling calm and refreshed. Come give it a try!
Bring an exercise mat and bottle of water. Comfortable clothes are important. Keep in mind that inversions (forward folds) will have you upside down so fitted shirts can be easier than very baggy ones. Stretching ropes/straps are helpful if you are very tight.
