Please mark June 5th on your calendars to join us for the 6th annual Crabowitz 5K fun run and crabs! We will be supplying crabs and pizza and our own Brewmaster, Tony BBQ, will once again be providing the “Rebel Electrolyte Ale”!
Please bring your drink of choice and let us know if you can attend. The run is optional and kids are welcome!
We are also continuing the tradition of collecting donations for the B+ Foundation. The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation honors the life of 14-year-old Andrew who battled leukemia and sepsis. Andrew’s B+ blood type became the perfect message – Be Positive – to reflect how Andrew lived his life and how he inspired others to do the same. The B+ Foundation is about kids helping kids fight cancer. We do this by providing financial and emotional support to families of children with cancer and by providing childhood cancer research grants.
Thanks and looking forward to another great event!

WHAT: Yoga for Runners

Running and yoga go together like peanut butter and jelly. If you are tight, sore, stressed, or just looking to clear your mind for a more focused training season, yoga may be the right thing for you.
What the heck is yoga anyway? Do we have to wear trendy clothes and bend ourselves into pretzels? Absolutely not. Yoga, like running, can be simple and effective with minimal equipment.
Yoga is an ancient practice that began in India. Physically, it can help you become stronger, and more flexible. Mentally, it can improve concentration and relieve stress. The breath in yoga is what links the mental and physical together. This “mind/ body connection” can help an athlete to feel more present and healthy in their sport.
If you think you’re too tight for yoga, think again. This workshop is tailored specifically for runners. It begins with a short introduction, breath work, and a series of beginner-friendly postures to strengthen and stretch the muscles. We will focus specifically on:
-Injury prevention
-Safe Alignment
-Core stability
-Stress relief for muscles and mind
It ends in a guided relaxation to leave you feeling calm and refreshed. Come give it a try!
Bring an exercise mat and bottle of water. Comfortable clothes are important. Keep in mind that inversions (forward folds) will have you upside down so fitted shirts can be easier than very baggy ones. Stretching ropes/straps are helpful if you are very tight.

Race Results, Reviews and Accomplishments
Here’s what’s been sent in…
Stacey Schiller would like it known, by one and all, that she turned in a PR of 26:47 at the Highway One Pictures 5K on Memorial Day, trouncing hubby Joel by nearly a minute. His response: “The King is Dead. Long Live the Queen!”
Theresa Cannon-Kauffman smoked it yet again, winning her age group at the YMCA Memorial Day 10k in Fredericksburg, VA, finishing in 49:32!
A little personal gloating from your editor. I won the Clydesdale Master 226-and-up division at the 21st Masser 5-Miler on May 25th, making me the Delaware state champion! Granted I was the only one in the division but I showed up and did the work, turning in a PR of 1:23:19.
Andy Jakubowitch won the 12th Highway One Pictures 5k on Memorial Day, finishing in 17:23.1, beating his time a week before by over half a minute! YAY for flat courses.

Due to so many people participating in both the Masser 5-miler and the Highway One Pictures 5k I have searched the results. If you are not listed, please accept my apologies and let me know. You will be highlighted in next week’s bulletin or a special edition if one is published.
