USATF
Race Recap for Tyler Arboretum and upcoming “double jeopardy” weekend (Tom Steenkamer)
Last weekend the USATF off-road season resumed with the annual run through the Tyler Arboretum grounds in nearby Media, PA. The Tyler Arboretum 10k has become local favorite with trail running enthusiasts and this year was no exception. Once again the race reached its registration capacity selling out five weeks prior to race day. Thankfully the USATF trail coordinator and race director were receptive to our late request to field a full race team for this event.
Noted for its wide trails, rolling terrain and four minor stream crossings the Tyler 10k is a fun test for beginners as well as accomplished trail racers. PCVRC had ten runners complete the race. We received great support from our ladies at this event with three of the four finishing in the top six club age-graded scores.
43:40 TOM STEENKAMER 73.24 336.66
37:45 JOSH LOREN 71.95

2: 00.24 BETTY OLMSTEAD 36.69
In the club competition Greater Philly led the way based on the strong performances from their 50-year men (swept top three in the age group), second was Rosemont followed by PCVRC.
USATF Double Jeopardy April 26th weekend
The next USATF events for both off-road and Grand Prix occur on the weekend of April 26. The off-road series continues with the Triple Crown 10k at the Carpenter Recreation area in Newark’s White Clay Creek State Park just north of Newark on Saturday. The club has typically done very well on our home course and we need your support to continue our success. Day of registration will be available for the trail race.
The road series will resume with the Valley Forge 5 miler on Sunday. Important note – Valley Forge does not permit day of registration due to Federal park restrictions. Please register online prior to April 20th!
