Paula Jermyn – 2024 Member of the Year
It is my privilege to to recognize an outstanding individual who has truly made a difference in our club and in the lives of those around her. We’re here to celebrate our Club Member of the Year, Paula Jermyn!
Paula embodies the very spirit of our club. Her consistency in attendance of the group runs, participation, and enthusiasm sets a standard that inspires each of us. Whether she’s sharing her stories or lending a helping hand, she approaches everything with dedication and positivity.
What truly sets Paula apart is her genuine nature. She possesses an incredible ability to connect with others, making everyone feel valued and supported. As a mentor, she invests her time and energy into guiding new and existing members alike, always providing encouragement and kindness for those seeking guidance.
Paula has been described as a catalyst for positive change in people’s lives. Her energy and thoughtfulness allows others to step out of their comfort zones and try something new. She builds community through social connection, service, and setting an example for a healthy, active lifestyle. One member in particular says she wouldn’t have rejoined PCVRC if not for Paula, and it has truly enriched her life.
Today, we honor Paula Jermyn not just for her accomplishments, but for the remarkable person she is. Her commitment to our club, her mentorship, and her embodiment of a healthy lifestyle create a ripple effect of positivity that inspires us all.
On behalf of everyone here, we are grateful for everything you do. Thank you for being a shining star in our club. Congratulations on being named the Club Member of the Year—this honor is truly well-deserved!
Caitlin Reilly – 2024 Volunteer of the Year
Coordinator of our Couch To 5K program and regular at our Sunday morning group run!
Mike Brown – 2024 Outstanding Running Achievement
When not sailing his boat or posting funny Corgi videos on Facebook, Mike is usually training for a marathon. He’s been a regular at both our Sunday Group Run and Tuesday Track Workout for a number of years.
Back in 2023, he ran Boston Marathon, then a marathon a month later in Denver and then a trail marathon in Vermont.
In April 2024, Mike posted on Facebook: “Finished the London Marathon in 4:34, 73 days after prostate surgery. All is good. A little sore, but good.” From the operation recovery training progress reports he’d share with Sunday runners, compared to what he endured, training through a sore tendon or other typical running injury is a piece of cake. Glad he kept smiling!
Mike closed out 2024 by starting training for Tokyo Marathon, which was just a couple weeks ago. His 3 hours, 45 minutes was his fastest time in 3 years.
We congratulate Mike on his outstanding running achievements!
Sean Coleman – 2024 Outstanding Running Achievement
As Sean’s mom Eileen points out, “Inherently running is an individual sport and his improvement is of course because of his dedication to his running. However I am certain that just as importantly: because he has made new friends, feels welcomed, included, and truly a part of the PCVRC, Sean strives to do his best, improve, and make you all proud of him.”
Sean has been a club member for 2 years and is a regular at both our Thursday Group Run and Tuesday Track Workout. He’s been placing in or overall winner of several 5K’s starting with Outrun Hunger 5k and 5K for Fireworks in 2023.
He’s now the 2-time defending champion at our Delaware Distance Classic 5k and won the Touchdown 5k in Newark a few weeks ago.
His highlight of 2024 was in May when he ran in the “Eagles Autism Challenge 5K”. Not only did he raise over $5000 for the cause, but of the 2,500 participants he was overall champion.
Kevin Tressolini wrote a feature article in the News Journal that you’ll find on our website awards page. The title was “Eagles Autism Challenge 5K run won by Delaware man who has beaten own autism challenges“. It’s worth reading.
Sean is always wearing a smile, but I’m even happier when another fast runner comes out on Thursdays so I don’t have to try to keep up with him!
Congratulations on your outstanding achievements in 2024.
