Tuesday night lights
The days may be shorter but Tuesday night track workouts continue over the winter months. Meet at the UD track at 5:45, the lighting is sponsored by the UD Triathlon club until 7:30 PM. All ages and abilities are welcome. Coach Jim Fischer continues to provide guidance and encouragement to everyone from beginners to experienced runners.

Pike Creek club members flock to Newark Turkey Trot (Tom Steenkamer)
Saturday, November 23rd, marked the 40th running of the annual Newark Turkey Trot 10k/5k. The race is the second oldest organized race in Delaware. Pike Creek club members were out in force to take on the challenge of the rolling course on the western edge of Newark. The early-week warm weather gave way to typical late November conditions as race time temperatures for the 10k were in the low 40’s accompanied by a stiff northwesterly breeze.
In the 10k race, PCVRC was led by top performances from Kelly Horowitz, 1st overall female, and Kristen Stump, 2nd overall female. There were numerous age group award winners in both races taking home the coveted “Golden Running Turkey” trophy. Congratulations to the double award winners, Theresa Cannon, Betty Olmstead and Dan Simmons – who decided two loops of hills were not enough!
