Bellevue State Park on Carr Road, off the Marsh Road Exit of I-95 has arguably the easiest course
for beginning runners. A former horse training oval of 1 1/8 mile is now a flat, packed dirt surface
for runners and walkers. There are also paved walkways and a cross country course. Those wishing for
a long and more challenging runs have the option to cross Marsh Road to run out and back through
Bringhurst Woods and the hilly Rockwood Park.
Brandywine Creek State Park is famous for its tough hilly cross country course available from the main
entrance off Adam's Dam Road. An easier option for long runs would be parking at the lot north of the
Brandywine on Thompson's Bridge Road, Route 92, and running along the creek. there are also hilly trails
leading up to and around the fields of the Woodlawn Trustees property.
