Theresa Kauffman wins, Volunteers needed
Theresa Kauffman wins Kids Kickin' Cancer 5K
Theresa Kauffman loves to run the course from St. John the Beloved Church on Milltown Rd. It must be the fact that she went to elementary school there that seems to inspire her to always be the female race winner of every race done there. Last Wednesday she won again at the Kids Kickin' Cancer 5K in a time of 21:43.
Volunteer! Volunteer! Volunteer!
Club members: Please step forward to help in any of these efforts. The club is geeting a lot of mention from the Marathon directors, including a handout to every runner about the club's race, the Delaware Distance Classic.
If you can help with any of the following, please contact Ray Christensen asap by email or phone (ray@attractweb.com or 302-633-1482):
*** Delaware Marathon volunteers needed***
1. Tuesday, 6pm (load storage containers for course)
Meet at the 1-800-PACKRAT location in Glasgow (off 896) to preload the water
station containers for the Delaware Marathon.
Beers provided afterwards. Address is 211 Executive Dr Ste 16, Newark, DE
19702. Look up or Ray can send directions.
2. Thanks to Claire Neilan, Rachel Bleacher & Dan Weintraub for
representing the club by collecting money at the Saturday "PCVRC sponsored"
pre-race pasta dinner.
RSVP's still being accepted.
3. Sunday 5/17, 7am-10am (or) 10am-1pm (critical need for course marshals)
PCVRC is being asked to provide 10 Course Marshals along N Bancroft Pkwy at
intersections from Shallcross to 14th St. Three hour shifts (7-10am or
10am-1pm). You'd get your volunteer t-shirt and free meal ticket from Ray
right on Bancroft at beginning of your shift. Extra points if you can bring
a friend/spouse to man a position next to yours. (You'd be in shouting
distance.) I'll need your T-shirt size.
Help ensure the safety of runners--- Keep in mind that when the neighborhood
wakes up Sunday morning, they'll be surprised to find runners filling the
streets for up to 6 straight hours!
Again, please let me know asap if you (or a friend) can help or have
questions.
*** PCVRC Table at Delcastle Rec. Area - Saturday 5/30 8am-4pm ***
The Club plans to set up a table & chairs at Delcastle to hand out free
water to runners and walkers throughout
the day. It will be a community service effort to meet people, introduce
ourselves, offer information,
and recruit new members. We'll be located near the "Start/Finish" line and
the Tennis parking area and
will have cold water, club brochures and membership forms to hand out.
If you can commit to a 2 hour shift, let Ray know your time preferences. If you can't commit, we hope
you can stop over any time during the day to say hello or go for a run. All are encouraged to wear
club T-shirts or other club gear!
