Radnor 5 Mile Run, Marine Corps Marathon

Pike Creek runners compete in USATF event, the Radnor 5 Mile Run
Dean Coffin's report:
Radnor 5 Miler: The new "old" course proves easier.
This isn't a race that anyone would describe as easy, but a return to the old course for the first time in recent memory helped to flatten out the course. The order of the well known hills was mixed up too - so that one very steep hill in the first mile was 'moved' to the mid-point of the race and the last mile was all downhill & flat ( i.e. a fast finish). Perks of the day: perfect fall weather, a nice 'tech' t-shirt, good food, warm indoor registration & bathrooms, and a little health expo exhibit.

Pike Creek had a nice group together for the challenge, and in keeping with the Flyers win, the Eagles win, and the Phillies win x2 (game in progress as I type this note) . . . PCVRC had 5 age group winners: Andy Jakubowitch, David James, Dean Coffin, Theresa Kauffman, and Bob Taggart. Other racers: Richard Szymanski, Mary Jo Hsing, and Jerry Herman.

With just 2 races left in the USATF Road series both Rich & Dean have completed all events thus far. Rich has also done all trail races (one left to go). New club member this year Mary Jo Hsing competed in her first USATF event as a Pike Creeker. She & her husband Rodney recently ran the Portland, OR marathon.

Next up is Ben Franklin Bridge 10k next Sunday www.RunTheBridge.org - One of my favorite races and there's only 2 hills on this course - over & back!
