Summer Race Calendar, ? Jess Manning
Upcoming Races
Warm weather is here and there are races all over the place, many days each week!
We are highlighting a few things here.
Club members Chip and Doris Bixler direct their annual Run4Fun 5K Run/Walk at Elkton High School, 110 James St. in Elkton, MD, 9:00 A.M. Sunday, June 1. This is always a fun event with many children taking part in their first race. Watch out! Don't run over the small sprinters who run out of gas in the first 100 yards! Longtime club members will recall that this race is a lot like the former Glasgow Dragon 5K that the Bixlers used to direct before they retired from teaching. Be prepared for lots of snacking afterward. There are a number of small age-groups for all the kids, so awards take a while. To register online, go to:

Club members are reminded that registration for the Annapolis Ten Miler opens on June 1. This race has a limited registration and always sells out, so don't tarry. In case you don't know why, notice that the registration is $45, but the premium is a microfiber jacket, worth much more than the cost of entry. For more info, go to:

Looking for a cheap way to do your racing? Consider participating in the Howard M. Laws Summer Cross Country Series at Bellevue State Park this summer. The series of six races, held every other Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. or later for the adults, begins on June 3. The cost is $5.00 per race or $25.00 for the series with a tee shirt. There are occasional guest speakers to talk about running related topics and random prize giveaways after each race.
June 7 is a big day in USATF racing with both the 8K road race in Moorestown, N.J. and the Wissahickon 10K Trail Run in Philadelphia. If you like to participate for the club and haven't yet signed up for either of thiese races, contact Dean Coffin, dean_delaware_aflac@yahoo.com. for more info on the races, see http://mausatf.org/.
